Let’s dive straight into the new features of Kolakube Email Forms:

ActiveCampaign ConvertKit Integrations

1. ActiveCampaign + ConvertKit Integration

Integrations make embedding email forms onto your site easier by removing the need for handling the oftentimes large and confusing email form codes provided by your Email Service Provider.

Alongside AWeber and MailChimp, version 1.1 now adds integration for the popular ActiveCampaign and ConvertKit services. Of course, if your service doesn’t have an integration, you can still add your custom form code to the Email Forms widget.

2. New Widget Features: After Form Text + Display Options

Email forms widget display settings

You can now conveniently place text after your email form with the new After Form setting in the widget.

If you want to display some kind of disclaimer message or testimonial after your email form (e.g. “we will never sell your email address), this option will make that easy.

In addition to After Form text, you can also choose to limit the display of the email widget to either only your blog homepage or only to single posts with the new display settings. →

3. Developer Features: Email Template + Hooks

Kolakube Email Forms 1.1 adds powerful developer features that gives you fine-tuned control over your email form HTML:

1. Take Control of the Email Form Template

Email Forms Template

You can now manipulate the entire HTML of the email form that displays on your website with your WordPress child theme to make advanced customizations.

To make edits, copy the entire Email Form template file loaded in /plugins/kolakube-email-forms/templatse/email-form.php and paste it in your child theme following the same template path: /themes/my-child-theme/templates/email-form.php

(you have to create the /templates/ folder and email-form.php file inside your child theme’s root folder)

2. Dynamically add content to your form with hooks

Copying an entire template just to make a few small changes can be an overkill, so version 1.1 adds convenient hooks you can use to add your changes from afar. Here’s the list of hooks available as of 1.1:

  • kol_email_forms_top — Top of widget, before email form HTML
  • kol_email_forms_bottom — Bottom of widget, after email form HTML
  • kol_email_forms_before_form — Before the opening email <form> tag
  • kol_email_forms_after_form — After the closing email </form> tag
  • kol_email_forms_form_top* — Directly after the opening email <form> tag
  • kol_email_forms_form_bottom* — Directly before the closing email <form> tag
  • kol_email_forms_after_submit* — Directly after the submit button

* = unavailable on Custom HTML Forms

For example, if I wanted to add a disclaimer message before the email form, I could add it with the following function in my child theme’s functions.php file using the kol_email_forms_before_form:

function kol_email_form_disclaimer { ?>

    <p>My disclaimer message.</p>

<?php }

add_action( 'kol_email_forms_before_form', 'kol_email_forms_before_form' );

4. Other Improvements

There were may other improvements made to Kolakube Email Forms 1.1:

  • Removed URL protocol from form action to ensure forms don’t break https://
  • Leaner API that uses and collects far less, more organized data
  • Better inline documentation throughout plugin code
  • Simplified user interface + connection process

To get version 1.1, update the Kolakube Email Forms plugin from the Plugins dashboard in WordPress or download from the plugins repository.
