Will beta versions be made available to active subscribers? As we've discussed on Xenforo forum, I'm nearly ready to migrate from MyBB to Xenforo and the one thing I'm waiting on is the sync option that will be available soon in this plugin.

And I'll echo others here and in the thread on Xenforo that I'd prefer the Xenforo registration over Wordpress, but at the moment I'll take what I can get. :)

And while registration is done through WP, would an add-on like this for Xenforo still be usable, not for registration but for multiple account detection?

Thanks.

Users are only synced when 1) manually from the Edit users panel or 2) on WP registration. Logging into WP doesn't guarantee the same user credentials exist yet on XenForo so they must be verified first to then be able to do things like redirect and login to XF after logging into WP (which is a setting).

I'll check the password rest actions to see what may be acting up. I'm sure you've also checked the "Sync user edit email and password changes" on the User actions > Settings tab too?
Is there some way, maybe upon the initial install, to run a scan and sync existing users? It could then force a logout and require a password reset? I'm spitballing here but I think there needs to be a more practical way of getting existing users in sync.

As for the Sync user edit setting yes, it's checked in Settings.

That is possible and a goal for beta 3 or after the stable release. There are some valuable bulk actions that would be nice to have in the plugin and mass verify is definitely one of them.

@thunderclap82 I've just tested the edit password from the WP User edit and frontend reset password and both successfully updated the password on XF. I wonder what may be different on your site.

I think it has to do with existing users. If they haven't been manually synced and the password reset forced from within the WP User option it doesn't work. It works fine for new users who have been created since the installation of the plugin, just not old ones. That's why I was asking if there would be an auto sync feature at some point.

Ahh, understood. It is expected for those actions not to work if they aren't connected so all good there. I did more digging into the XenForo API and actually see a way to get all XF users and run them through actions from WP. So that is huge news.

Question for you - how many members does your forum have?

Xenforo has 20,430 users while WP shows 39,832. I suspect many of these are old spam accounts from when the site originally started in 2006 (before my time) and before we started syncing accounts in 2012. Another reason I want to use BuddyPress with its email verification timed deletion plugin. :)

Good, it's definitely important for the plugin to only sync the proper accounts and not introduce junk into the sync process. Hopefully this helps get some of your accounts cleaned up. :D

As beta 2 is now ready, I'm going to close this and direct all feedback to the new thread:

Please use this thread to share your experience with XFtoWP 1.2 Beta 2 and how the new user syncing capabilities are working for you. This is still beta software and some features are missing or incomplete, and all feedback is encouraged to get them right for the stable release. Thanks for your support!

So far the update is working nicely, however I am experiencing an issue when syncing WP posts to Xenforo threads. This actually happened with Beta 1 but forgot to mention it. I'm using the default code when syncing posts to threads.
Is there a way to have the entire post, including pictures, just be in the thread instead of a Read Full Article link?

Glad to hear the beta is going smoothly so far! Wasn't expecting to hear an issue about thread comments but that's no problem!

Hmm, it look like the excerpt text ("continue reading") has been modified to include some HTML. The XF bbcode parser doesn't seem to like much HTML posted in these areas, which is also why I have been unable to create a full post content variable as images and other HTML are blocked by the API for some reason. I will try to investigate why the HTML comes from the read more link and get back to you.

Throwing out another registration plugin you might want to incorporate when you have time: Pie Register. It does everything I need in the basic version (i.e. username, email, password, email verification w/ limited days to verify). Or you could always add a basic registration feature to your plugin that piggybacks the default WP one, just add some extra safety measures in it. :) I'd pay a little extra for that feature.

Funny enough I already have a simple register form created for a client who needed this exact functionality from XFtoWP, so I will have to release it. :)

I am curious though - does user sync work when you create a new user from the Pie Register admin? I have never heard of the plugin but from my testing most plugins use the standard WP user registration system in some way, which XFtoWP hooks into.

Agh, got ahead of myself. Luckily they won't be too hard to add into the plugin's sights. Since you've remained so active here and helpful I will look into BuddyPress next.

From my perspective BuddyPress isn’t necessary (unless others are asking for it) if you’re incorporating your own registration settings (verifying email with a custom number of days to very before the account is deleted, and have reCaptcha and/or hCaptcha) or you incorporate Pie Register. The reason for this is Pie Register does what is needed without an additional plug-in like BuddyPress. It might save some work on your end.

is it possible to sync past comments at the posts answers?
i bought this thinking its possible to convert all post comments to forums threads.

It looks like you’re getting ready to release the final version of 1.2. What can we look forward to in the final release?
Yes, all is looking well for at least release candidate 1 next week. :) The full release will include more polishing of the user sync features, the ability to sync multiple forum accounts to a user, as well as a front end manual verify form, similar to Xenforo.com and also how you verified your account on XFtoWP.com. It is optional to use.
