TREW updates

Hey Alex!
I tried updating my site to 5.5.5 2 days ago. Out of an abundance of caution, I made a site backup within Cloudways. As soon as it updated, my site was {temporarily} broken. I immediately rolled it back... What can I do to complete this update properly? I assume the issue has to do with the theme mods and/or child theme you coded for me.

Thank you!

Hey @writeitnow09, I remember we upgraded TREW on a staging site and it appears that site never went live. Do you still have that staging site copy somewhere?

Hi @writeitnow09 thank you so much for your patience. I am caught up with the other support tickets here and got the recent MD5.5.6 patch out so I am targeting TREW for ita final touches next. :)

Hey @Alex. It's been about 6 weeks since I made this support request. If you can't help right now for whatever reason, can you please post instructions so I can do it myself or have my son do it?

Thank you

Hey @writeitnow09, inexcusable on my part but am truly ready to make it right. I've logged in to the dev site and looked around for the latest todo items. Ultimately the Cloudways dev site is ready to be pushed over to the live site, it's a matter of adding in content.

I will reply back here later tonight with some updates I make and more details.

Hey @Alex -- we've both been around for quite awhile and we know stuff happens. No worries, my friend. Let's move forward! I'll keep my eyes open for any messages you may send, though I am down with the flu (this is day 2).

Thank you again!

Hey @Alex... sorry for the delay. This one's on me...
I've moved the site from Cloudways to https://dev.therealestatewriter.com. I can't make it live because there's some wonky-looking stuff going on. (It looks like it did before when you had done some upgrade stuff).
Your old WP login works here if you can take a look maybe?

Thank you!

To be clear, Alex, this site is live... it is sitting on a dev installation on my main URL. I'm sorry if there was any ambiguity about its status.

Hi @writeitnow09, this site is sadly not the same as I had left it from Cloudways and it looks like our data somehow got deleted. Unless there is a backup somewhere that site port seems to be lost.

Rather than being defeated about this I'd like to propose a change in focus of TREW. Most of the work we did to port the old design had to do with keeping alive custom templates that, to be frank, won't serve you as well as they used to back then when we first designed them.

Instead, I think we need to make your blog the front face of TREW with your call to actions still intact, and of course keep your About / Contact / Services pages. Ditch all the crud slowing us down.

Basically I am suggesting we radically simplify this site while still keeping the elements of TREW that make it your brand, but make it a website that is more focused on your content in a way that will actually want to make people keep coming back instead of seeing the same static landing page over and over.

Ultimately that is my idea based on what I think your goals are, but what do you think? I'd like to take the reins on this to blend what we have with what MD/WordPress can do that it couldn't do all those years ago and finally get this train moving.
