Hi there - loving the plugin. As we are testing we'd like to see if we can auto-create all post threads in a specific forum. We don't want to have to set it for every specific post. Is that possible?

Hey Stephan, glad you are finding some success with the plugin. :)

Are you referring to existing posts from your WordPress site to be auto published to your forum?

I would love this to be possible for every new article / thread we create.

I think what the OP meant was to provide an admin setting to enable auto create of threads on post publish under a specific forum without the need of per post configuration of schedule/create thread. He isn't asking to create threads for existing posts but for the future ones.

I like the idea. So here are my additional inputs to enhance the feature if this is included:

- A per author based turn off option for auto thread creation, not every author wants their every WP post to be auto posted on the forums
- If an author don't want his WP post get auto posted on the forums, an option to unschedule the thread auto thread creation during WP post drafting
- It is important to have a notice shown on WP post publish page (preferably under XF thread meta box) mentioning 'XF thread will be auto created once you publish the WP post'. It will also work as a warning note to the authors so they won't end up creating auto threads unknowingly

Agreed, coming from Discourse, it was possible to have new threads automatically created whenever a new Wordpress post was published. Would be nice to have this option on XFtoWP and reduce an extra step needed (that could be forgotten at times).

One way to do this is to have an Auto-post to forum option checked on by default on the WP post publish page that way we can at least uncheck it for those times we don't want to auto-post to the forums.

Thanks!

I wonder if this could also be served with a RSS feed or using the API to automatically post with 2.2.x

That would be great!

Once a WordPress post is published, it then automatically creates the thread on the forum rather than manually doing so after publishing.

Is this possible?

When having show tabs + wp comments. on the front end, the tab forum replies are not available to guests?

This is an enhancement coming soon. :)

This should be available to everybody. If you just recently activated this feature and use caching, it's possible the cache just needs to be cleared.

tabs + wp comments have been active for a few weeks now and I clear cache often recently, still no luck

Does it work for you: https://worldinsport.com/lions-tour-2021-predicting-the-lions-xv-vs-the-springboks/
No, it's broken for me and my browser console is reporting a JS error. I suspect it has to do with the minify plugin you're using which seems to be interfering with XFtoWP. If you are able to exclude the XFWP.js file from being altered the issue will probably be fixed.

Usually these kinds of plugins don't load when you are logged-in as an admin, which is why you see two different things happening.

Nice! That did it. You may need to do a hard refresh to see the changes.

Next, go paste this CSS to your child theme style.css or go to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS to get rid of the gap between the comments area and tabs:

CSS:
.comments-tabs { margin-bottom: 0; }
.comments-area { margin-top: 0; }

Thanks for that
Let's also style the forum comments tab when clicked a little nicer too. This will match your theme's spacing exactly:

CSS:
.forum-comments {
    background-color: #fff;
    padding: 4em 6.67em;
}

@media all and (max-width: 1200px) {
    .forum-comments {
        padding-left: 2.34em;
        padding-right: 2.34em;
    }
}

@media all and (max-width: 544px) {
    .forum-comments {
        padding-left: 1em;
        padding-right: 1em;
    }
}

Is there a way to automatically have a thread created for every new post to our blog?

Is there a way to control which forum these threads are created in? For example, can we associate a WP tag/category with a specific XF forum? Or can we associate a certain author with specific XF forums for thread creation?

Thanks for posting @trana. If you could, please verify your forum account here in your XFtoWP customers area.

This has been a popular suggestion so I've merged your thread into this existing thread.

I like your ideas here:

It's definitely possible to do this and something I can look at once auto publish is implemented.
