Hi there. I'm a newbie to thesis and Wordpress and want to be able to have three column layout on homepage and two column for all other pages. Can the md2 skin allow this or do I still need to do custom php coding for the homepage? I would like to have some widgets (calendar, advertisers) also only appear on home page, other widgets (eg sub menu) only appear on the pages and different widgets again (eg tags, categories) to appear on posts.

Hey there. Thanks a ton for your interest in our skins. I think what you're looking for is built in functionality for creating custom layouts. Unfortunately, no that does not exist within MD2. It definitely would take custom PHP as it would with any other Thesis install.

And with having a custom layout on the homepage that still serves widgets, things get even more complicated. As for showing widgets on certain pages, and posts, there's definitely a plugin for that which will work exactly as you've described. It's called "Display Widgets."

I think your best bet would be for you to explain exactly what you'd want your homepage to display and I can help you find the best course of action for creating that. MD2 is quite flexible and with the page lead system and minimal PHP, we might be able to come up with something unique. Let me know.
