Online Super Woman

judmed's Photo judmed 13 Apr 2012

Am I the only woman here? ;)

I tried not to edit everything too much because I just LOVE the skin itself and I'm aiming for "clean and simple". I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Very nice, Michelle!

I like the color changes you've made. Very unique.

My only suggestion would be to reconsider the color of the read more links and the button in the header. Though they stand out, the read doesn't seem to mix well withe the color scheme, in my opinion.

Just my thoughts! Very nice customizations, though!

This is great stuff Michelle. :D How did you find customizing MD? Easy? Any challenges?

I'm digging the color scheme you have here. Maybe a pattern to overlay the green background color? It could make it pop a little maybe!

And I have a HUGE suggestion for your about page:

http://www.online-su...n.com/about-me/

...throw an optin form at the end. There's not optin form on that page at all and your about page is one of your most important pages. Check this article from DIYthemes out to learn a little more about the importance: http://diythemes.com...ate-about-page/

And maybe it's just me, but I'd lower the number of posts that appear on your blog homepage. I think you'll see an improvement in page loading time and user browsing if you went from 10 posts to, say, 5.

Killer work though Michelle, this is the kind of stuff I love seeing MD users do with the skin. :D

I like the the look and feel of the site. Particularly, the header and background colour change.

I was thinking the same thing! Now I have purple buttons (and the ribbon is lighter to match)! What do you think? :)

Pretty easy! It's just about figuring out which code edits what.

One of my more recent challenges actually has something to do with what you say about my About page...

I tried a pattern but I think it looks better without. The patterns make my site look slightly "darker".

I agree! I actually just watched this video yesterday: http://diythemes.com...version-rates/. I apparently need to rewrite my whole About Me page, but the opt-in form is what I'm having trouble with.

I have an opt-in form in my post footers and one to show up in the sidebar of individual posts (so it's not on the homepage). However, I can't figure out a way to make at least one of those show up for pages. I want opt-in forms on all my pages, but I don't want to have to add them individually.

Is there a way to do this?

Great idea! Done!

Thank you again for your feedback! It's extremely helpful!

I'm actually rewriting the about page on Kolakube now. That has to be the hardest thing I've done all week! An hour in and I've passed the headline and first 2 paragraphs... but that's always the hardest part I guess. :D

And this is how you can add an optin form to all your pages. Throw this in custom_functions.php

function custom_optin_pages()
{
    if(is_page())
    {
    ?>
        <!-- optin code here -->
    <?php
    }
}
    add_action('thesis_hook_after_post', 'custom_optin_pages');
